an analytical phase of Research
Understanding the Essence in conversation with the client, in landscape or in archives.
After a couple of hours of your time, we will carry out our own research. We begin to understand the story we’re working with and it’s key themes, angles and perspectives that you have outlined and want us to address.
Our research is focused around the essence that exists at the heart of your story. that becomes the anchor of the artwork, the reason we compose in the way that we do. You don’t have to know the answers - we are skilled at extracting that out through our facilitation process.

an experimental phase
translating the essence or research visually through sketching and model making
In response to that initial steer from you, we enter a detailed phase of research and development. We familiarise ourselves with your story and explore the conceptual direction; expanding on our interpretations of key themes and essence.

the detailed design phase
doing all of the work that allows the piece to be made: detailed composition; production drawings; creation of materiality.
once agreed on the key story and concepts, we begin to look at specific content that supports the themes and overall direction. it is from this point that we begin to compose. There will be some feedback and dialogue between us, before arriving at the final signed-off composition, ready for production.
