A bespoke desk created in celebration of our client’s 60th birthday
The work commemorates and honours the life of the client through personal gestures and handcrafted SUBTLETIES, resonating with family memories and narratives of the client’s professional success.
Our research involved conversations with members of our client’s family alongside an exploration into his treasured photographic collection charting his life journey.
The piece is born of a living history, shared experience and personal memory.
Our research involved conversations with members of the client’s family, alongside an exploration into his treasured photographic collection that charted his life's journey.
The form of the desk itself was informed by our client’s great interest in photography. Our design was directly drawn from the shape and structure of the Nikon F3 camera; his most treasured possession.
Woven into the piece are characterful gestures which speak to our client’s personality, such as scrabble letters spelling out his first name and inscriptions of his most sentimental maxims.
Images of poignant moments in life were collated to form a collage within the framework of a world map. Upon peering into the surface of the desk, memories and journeys are celebrated and preserved.
