we are here places this at the core of a los angeles home, creating sanctuary within the city. a resinating, beating heart that sets rhythm for all who reside.
we began in a wild, irish landscape, allowing the vast oscillation of geological time to capture our breath, among the cracks and fissures of sea formed limestone.

UNDERSTAND THE PROCESS
AN INSIGHT INTO THE CREATIVE PRACTISE

DISCOVER
This private client sought to position an important bespoke work at the centre of his new home high in Beverly Hills. He chose to use the landscape of the Irish Island of Inis Oirr as the basis.
II
DEFINE
The proposed sculpture was modelled in 3D using scan data of the islands topography. Architectural models built to scale in paper allowed for the development of an integrated lighting system to complement a natural skylight above the work and allow the artwork to appear to breathe.

DEVELOP
Bioresins and flax were developed to form a unique body for the sculpture.
In a final iteration we travelled to India, holding a fire ceremony on the first day of the auspicious Navratri fesitval to make sacred ash which we used as the patina of the work.
