Why Number One? Because it was the first.
It was a form conceived, arrowesque, indicating the ‘metaphorical road to nowhere’. Part of the Based Upon Desire show in 2005 it was fabricated in foam and liquid metal and was suspended within a void of an East London courtyard before residing at the Cass Sculpture Foundation.
Subsequent iterations of greater length have taken weight and become grounded, cast in bronze.
